Focus Your Business - To Get - More Clients

Every business needs clients to survive. Many of them encounter difficulties in getting clients at the rate they would really like. The reasons for this are countless. In many cases you may be trying to sell a vacuum cleaner to someone who does not have carpet. This is such an easy mistake to make. Choosing or identifying your target audience is overlooked very often and it is an underlying cause of many business failures today.
Before you choose an audience, be sure to 'narrow your focus' and be able to simply tell someone all about your business in just a few short sentences. This can be tricky so take the time to find a focus. It's better to earn 100% of one little thing than it is to earn 0 to 1% of a big thing. Many business owners make the detrimental assumption that they should just offer more and more services or items and it will magically result in a huge influx of clients and business goes through the roof. This has only worked for a small fraction of businesses and you won't necessarily be that lucky. It's like trying to earn from every possible corner and angle out there. In most cases, the opposite can come to pass. You just wind up earning a small amount of money from each different service you offer. GET FOCUSED AND STAY FOCUSED.
I was listening to a podcast a few days ago and there was a very nice illustration of the point mentioned above. I'll recall to the best of my memory.
Let's say there's a pregnant women who is a diabetic and she needs a book that she can use as a guide to control her diet during pregnancy. She walks into a bookstore and there are hundreds and hundreds of health oriented books. There are books such as "Controlling your Weight during pregnancy", "Steps to a Healthy Diabetic Diet", "Pregnancy and Cholesterol" then she finds one entitled,"Diets for Diabetic Pregnant Women". Now think about that for a moment. Which book do you think she will select? The one that best suits her. That is why a business needs a key area to focus on. When you "zero in" and maintain a focus, there's virtually no limit to your capabilities. Having a focused business is an integral advantage to have over competitors. Sometimes we spread ourselves too thin and it reflects in our businesses. It is easy change something in the planning stages but once it's built, you have a huge problem on your hands. Therefore one of the first things to think about at the startup stages of your business, is its focus.
So if you solve the problems of focus and match that with a target audience, your clients will grow exponentially. Everyone probably buys soap at the supermarket but what if their were an entire store down the street named "Soap Suds" for example, and it's sole product was soap. Such a business will most likely offer more brands of soap than the supermarket that has to cater for other products. Even if soap is a poor example, it's a great illustration of the concept.
Having a focus in business is synonymous with answering a need and solving a problem which will lead to more clients coming into your business and hence your business grows tremendously.
